The shadows she observed on the lawn inspired her to work for months on the technique that, in contrast did not portray the chosen object on canvas. When objects live or a thing that can be eaten, like humans and fruits that they transform into a picture of their own. Alexa's painting style has an ephemeral quality, the only thing left of Alexa Meade's work is her photo. Photography and painting are tightly together to produce a flat two-dimensional surface that is trompe-l'oeil. Certain places the three-dimensional space can be observed, such as near the eye or the hair. Meade is also able to integrate her painted models within the 3-dimensional space around them. Their interaction and the created environment is conceivable. This is a way of breaking down the barriers between photography, painting installation and performance.
