Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada and is American. More than 20 albums have been released by her. The music of DiFranco has been described as folk-rock and alternative rock although it also has influence from hip hop and jazz. Ani Difranco has been deemed as a feminist icon and a Grammy award winner. Being one of the early female musicians in the 1990s, DiFranco created her record label. DiFranco has two daughters: Elizabeth (Ross), and Dante Americo DiFranco. They were introduced at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Her father is of Italian ancestry and her mom was a Montreal native. Ani's song, 32 Flavors was written by her and is performed by Ani. The song debuted in 1995 on the sixth album Not a Pretty Girl. A variation of the song appears on the movie soundtrack of the 1999 Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate. DiFranco apology was made in the year 2013 when it was revealed that she was hosting an event for three days at a Louisiana ex-slave plantation. The course was later cancelled but she didn't show any regret. DiFranco offered a second apology several days after.
